Not everyone can afford the escalating home prices in the Twin Cities. St. Louis Park’s home prices, for instance, increased another 3.5 percent in May (over the median price in May of 2014). The median home price right now is $252,000.

So, what are folks on a tight budget supposed to do? We wondered the same thing while working with some first-time homebuyers recently so we did some research. Here are three wonderful homes for sale in St. Louis Park, priced under $100,000.

Updated Condo in Shelard Park

Low maintenance living is high on many would-be homeowner’s lists and this condo fits that bill and more. This absolutely turn-key unit has been tastefully updated with a remodeled kitchen and bathroom, a new cedar deck and more. Speaking of the deck, it’s tree-screened, allowing for lots of privacy.

The community, located adjacent to Shelard Park, offers round-the-clock maintenance, a hot tub, pool, party room, fitness area and underground parking. This home features one bedroom and one bathroom in 808 square feet of living space. It’s listed at $89,900. See photos here.

Sorenson Doll House

If you’d rather have a single-family home and aren’t afraid of hard work, this 3 bedroom 1 bathroom home is just loaded with potential. You’ll find wood floors throughout, a loft in the upper level and an unfinished basement. Built in 1950, this home features 1,080 square feet of living space. It’s listed at $91,100. This is one gorgeous condo unit. With one bedroom and one bathroom, it features gleaming dark wood floors throughout, a super large living room and a completely updated kitchen and bathroom. Located in Shelard Park’s Twin Fountains community, this home features 800 square feet of living space. It’s priced at only $98,900.

Built in 1980, the community is FHA approved. Shelard Park is such a convenient location, with Plymouth just north and Minnetonka to the west. We especially love the location because it’s just a 2-minute walk to our favorite place to get appetizers, Restaurant Baku!
